Commentary

In 2 Kings 18, we see the reign of King Hezekiah of Judah. Hezekiah was a righteous king who followed the Lord and removed the idols and high places of worship that had been set up by his father Ahaz. Hezekiah also repaired the temple and restored the worship of the Lord. Hezekiah was a strong leader who trusted in the Lord and was successful in his reign. In this chapter, we see Hezekiah's faithfulness to the Lord tested when the Assyrian king Sennacherib comes to Jerusalem to demand tribute. Hezekiah refuses to pay the tribute and instead trusts in the Lord for protection. The Lord answers Hezekiah's prayer and sends an angel to destroy the Assyrian army. This miraculous victory is a testament to Hezekiah's faith and trust in the Lord. The chapter ends with Hezekiah's prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord for His protection and deliverance. This prayer is a reminder to us of the importance of trusting in the Lord and relying on Him for protection and guidance. Hezekiah's faithfulness to the Lord is an example for us to follow.
